ARIANNA ANDERSON
Working for Double Aaces was not just a job for me, it was a passion. I loved every part of working for the program. I would not be the person I am today without having worked there. Being able to create strong connections with the kids in the program impacted me the most. I enjoyed coming to work everyday because I was able to spend time with the most awesome kids! I graduated from Newcastle High School in 2019. I am currently attending Chadron State College and majoring in Social Work. Double Aaces is a major part of why I chose the major I did. I am excited to hopefully be able to work at the Summer Rec Program for years to come! |
LAYNE HEATON
My name is Layne Heaton, I worked for the Aaces program for over 7 years. By far the most rewarding job I’ve had! It was so much fun to be able to see the kiddos grow and develop. Creating the relationships with the kiddos had the most impact on me. Especially the few that didn’t necessarily have those relationships at home, I got to be a solid in their life for the year. I also got the pleasure of working with all the age groups. The impact group was also a huge impact for me cause we got to help the kids work towards something. It was so amazing to see the kids all come together, be excited, and accomplish such a large goal! I’m so grateful for having the program as a stepping stone, it taught me so much about life! Today I am married to an amazing man, I have a beautiful baby boy named Hudson, and am a stay at home mommy. Life couldn’t get any better! |
CHANNING LUTZ
Hello! My name is Channing Lutz and I had the wonderful privilege of working for Double AAces for 3 years. I began working for Double AAces after moving to Newcastle from Indiana. When I look back on my time as an adult mentor, I think of it fondly. I worked with the same class for my whole tenure with AAces. That class will always have a special place in my heart, go class of 2022! Double Aaces is what led me to discover my passion of teaching. I work as a paraprofessional at the elementary school. Since working for Double AAces I have had many adventures. I have travelled to Europe, Canada, New York and many other places. I am so thankful for Tammy Allen and the rest of the Double AAces crew for the opportunity to work with such amazing kiddos and staff. I am also thankful and appreciative for the wonderful memories I made along the way! I’ll cherish them forever. |
ALONDRA MUNOZ
My name is Alondra Munoz and I started working at the Double Aaces after school program when I was a sophomore in high school back in 2010. I worked for Tamera and the Double Aaces crew throughout my high school career and even into my college career. I would work in the summers at the Summer Recreation Program. Working for the program was a lot of fun and it eventually led me to where I am at now. While working at the after-school program I found a passion for working with kids and teaching them during our homework center time. I am now in my second year of teaching third grade and I absolutely love it! I can say that getting to work with kids for several years prior to graduating from college, prepared me for my future. It also helped me develop professionalism and a strong worth ethic. I am extremely thankful for this experience. If I could do it all over, I would chose working at Double Aaces all over again! |
CASSIE MUNOZ
My name is Cassie and I began working as a high school mentor for the aaces program in November of 2013 as a Sophomore in high school. I continued to work with the kiddos throughout the remainder of my high school career both during the afterschool program as well as a couple of summers in the recreational program. Throughout the years, I learned that I am a very compassionate person and that I enjoy getting creative with all of the kiddos K-5. My experience with the program was amazing, and I had so much fun interacting with and guiding elementary school students. I loved it so much that I continued to work for the program any chance that I could throughout my college career as well. Today, I have graduated from college and am an occupational therapy assistant, and I can truly say that my years as an adult/high school mentor helped me to develop a professional and strong work ethic. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world! |
BROOKE DELAROSA
I was given the opportunity to work for Double Aaces all throughout my high school career. Working for Double Aaces teaches the teen mentors and adult mentors such great skills! Some of the skills I learned during my employment was organization, planning, confidentiality, and working as a team! The program allows for all employees to grow, and improve not only as an employee but as a person! The relationships that are formed with the kids we worked with was life changing. Mentors become people that the kids look up to and idolize. As a teenager, you are expected to maintain passing grades and are expected to be role model for kids. It is such a bonus to have a boss that cares about those things at that age, and about you as a person! The skills I learned lead me to my current job as an Office Manager for Weston County Road and Bridge, and also helped shape me as a mom! I can also say as a mom, I have seen the impact the program has on kids from a parents point of view. The variety of activities offered to kids is amazing and a great way to keep kids academically active during the summer! This program has a lot to offer for all involved. |
